Ben "The Wuzzle Guy" Martz is the Chair and a professor in the Department of Business Informatics. He teaches Quantitative Analysis with Excel; Introduction to Problem Solving and Creativity.

His childhood ambition was to become an architect, but got a marketing degree from the College of William & Mary and a master's degree and Ph.D. in MIS from the University of Arizona instead.

He started at NKU in July 2006. He teaches because he enjoys watching students learn. "Observing the 'aha moment,' when someone understands a difficult concept is very rewarding."

Martz is a busy man, with more than 70 publications in academic peer-reviewed journals on a variety of topics including: distance education; group decision support systems; entrepreneurship; technology transfer; systems thinking; and student learning environments.

He was a project manager of several large scale, million dollar, projects dealing with implementating computer labs in an educational environment. Ben is also a co-founder of a high tech spin-off company from the University of Arizona.

When he's not working, he makes attempts at playing golf and plays computer games. His eclectic taste in music includes everything from Manhattan Transfer to ZZ Top to Mozart to "The Man in Black," Johnny Cash.
