The Center for Applied Informatics is the outreach arm of Northern Kentucky University’s College of Informatics. It draws upon student, staff and faculty expertise from business informatics, computer science, communication and beyond to directly enhance student success and drive the mission of informatics.
CAI features a unique high-impact virtual co-op program, engaging students in projects such as designing websites, creating mobile apps, performing data analytics and many other informatics based initiatives, for organizations around the world.
Organizations can engage CAI to produce fully managed creative and technical development projects through our award winning Virtual Co-Op Program. Students can engage CAI to grow their skills, build their resume and make valuable peer and professional networking connections while working as a co-op at CAI. Organizations can support the talent development and regional development work we do through sponsorships. CAI and our students are grateful for the great support we have received and continue to seek additional funding to scale our efforts.
They gain real world experience in their degree fields while also bringing true value to the regional and national organizations in which they interact. Through this program, students work on a variety of projects, ranging from IT security and operations to web development to research. Students also have the opportunity to work with real companies on real projects in many different industries. Currently, students are contributing to a number of projects for organizations, which include web design and development, application development, mobile development, public relations, enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementation, and healthcare informatics.
