The NKU Center for Information Security (CIS) is a multidisciplinary center for information security research and education. NKU has been designated as a National Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense by the National Security Agency and U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
The CIS has four missions:
• Support NKU’s academic departments in the development of high quality
educational programs in cybersecurity.
• Offer high value events and symposia to both educators and professionals.
• Facilitate research that contributes to the theory and practice of information security.
• Perform cybersecurity outreach to both educational and professional organizations.
NKU was the first institution in Kentucky to be designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE CD), preparing students to deal with the cyber security challenges businesses and government face on a daily basis.
