Yasue Kuwahara, Ph.D.
Professor, Electronic Media & Broadcasting; POP Program Director
Dr. Kuwahara has taught a variety of courses on Japanese and American popular culture and the mass media at NKU since 1989. An expert in the field of popular culture studies, Dr. Kuwahara is the founder and the director of the Popular Studies Program at NKU. Her on-going research focuses on the U.S. influence on postwar Japan. She has authored book chapters and published articles in various journals, including The Journal of Popular Culture.

Originally from Tokyo, Dr. Kuwahara moved to the U.S. upon graduation from Waseda University with a B.A. in English Language and Literature. She received a M.A. in American Studies from California State University, Fullerton, and a Ph.D. in American Cultural Studies from Bowling Green State University
