Karen Slawter, M.A.
Lecturer, Communication Studies; CMST 101 Director
Karen Slawter has been a lecturer on the speech communication faculty since 1980. As course director for CMST 101, she administers over 60 sections per semester of the basic public speaking course; hires, trains, and supervises adjunct instructors; and schedules all sections at on-campus and off-campus sites.

In spring 2006, she received NKU's Outstanding Nontenure-track Faculty Member award.

She is the lead author of Principles of Speech Communication: A Student Coursebook, created to accompany the text in CMST 101.

Professor Slawter received her M.A. in Education from Northern Kentucky University and her B.A. in Speech and Drama from Eastern Kentucky University.
