Department of Communication
Media is everywhere in our highly connected and electronic world. But great sound and pictures won't mean much without a real story to tell, and great stories can't be told through media without well-planned and meticulously executed audio and video.
Learn how to marry your inner storyteller to your technical artist in one of the most wide-ranging disciplines in NKU’s College of Informatics - Electronic Media & Broadcasting.
With an EMB major or minor, you will:
You'll gain hands-on experience in The Lab: the most advanced campus digital post-production facility in the region. The Lab serves the EMB and MIN programs and features 21 of the latest Mac Pro workstations with 16 terabytes of shared Avid Unity storage and the best software: Final Cut Pro Studio 2, Avid Media Composer, Adobe Flash, Photoshop and After Effects, and much more.
You'll work with and learn from award-winning full-time faculty and some of the best adjunct professionals in the area. And each EMB class fully embraces our "academic and applied" philosophy for learning about and creating media.
Choose between the student-interest-driven electronic media track (including electives from throughout the College of Informatics to match your specific career goals) or the broadcast journalism track, which incorporates a journalism minor within the EMB major.
If you have the passion for the fast-changing opportunities in “storytelling with a screen” you’ll love your future with an Electronic Media & Broadcasting degree from NKU.
