Technology Training Workshops
Northern Kentucky University's Media Informatics program is hosting a series of professional training workshops for those who want to learn how to use cutting edge technology tools.
The best part: no experience necessary. We'll start from beginning (e.g. how do you turn on this Mac) and walk you through basics of a variety of software tools. Once you leave, you'll also have access to a class Wiki where you can get help from instructors for when you get stuck.
The first two in this series: the Social Media Workshop and the Flash Web Design Workshop.
Cost: $300
Date: Monday, Oct 20 - Tuesday, Oct 21
Time: 9 am - 530 pm
Food: 8 am - 9 am: coffee, bagels and juice; 1230 pm - 130 pm: boxed lunches, coffee, juice
Total Number: 20 people maximum
Social Media Workshop
This two-day workshop will teach people with little or rudimentary knowledge about software how to build their own website using simple, free programs online. By the end of the second day, participants will have a website that allows them to publish text, videos and photos, a wiki site that allows them to work collaboratively with other people (much like Wikipedia) and a social network that allows people with similar interests to gather in one place to talk, share images and photos and meet.
Ancillary Costs: For those who wish to maintain their website once they leave the class, the costs are $15 domain registration once per year and $10 hosting fee per month
Flash Web Design Workshop
This two-day workshop will teach people with little or rudimentary knowledge about software how to build their own website using Adobe Flash. Adobe Flash is an advanced authoring software for creating interactive Web sites. In this workshop, you will learn to create the basic components for a personal Web site, such as rollover buttons, links, and basic page layout. You will also learn to add actions to a Web site using intuitive Flash action scripting. Participants will also develop a working knowledge of the web applications used in Photoshop.
