Program Requirements
A major in computer information technology, leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science, requires three categories of required courses - support courses, core courses and specialization track courses. A grade of C or better is required in all coursework counted toward the major. The description below is from the 2008-09 catalog.
Required Support Courses
The CIT major requires the following support courses to provide the student with non-technical knowledge and skills deemed appropriate for Information Technology graduates.
- MAT 185, ENG 347, and PHI 210
Required Core Courses
The CIT major also requires that students complete core courses to provide a sufficiently broad exposure to the key areas of information technology - hardware, software development, systems, networks and applications.
- INF 110 or 120; INF 260
- INF 282, 284, and 286
- CIT 140, 141, 370 and 383
Specialization Tracks
As a student successfully proceeds through their required support and core courses, they are expected to select from one of two specialization tracks. These tracks will provide the student with an opportunity to explore, in depth, a specific area of information technology.
Database and Web Track
This track is designed to produce graduates who have a broad yet detailed understanding of issues pertaining to the development of effective, interactive, data-driven web-based environments.

Networking and Security Track
This track will provide the student with a thorough understanding of network administration, system administration and related security technologies.
