Minor in Computer Forensics
The minor in Computer Forensics will to teach you how to handle digital evidence and how to present it in court. You will have hands-on experience using real state-of-the-art computer forensic tools used by law enforcement. You will be prepared for a career in law enforcement or corporate security as a digital investigator and evidence examiner.
This program is offered jointly by the Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice and the Department of Computer Science.
A minor in computer forensics consists of 25 semester hours, including the following:
- CIT 140 Introduction to Computer Information Technology
- CIT 370 Operating Systems Technology
- CIT 380 Securing Computer Systems
- CIT 430 Computer Forensics
- JUS 101 Introduction to Criminal Justice
- One of:
- JUS 204 Criminal Investigation
- JUS 205 Criminal Evidence
- JUS 303 Criminal Procedure
- JUS 404 Evidence Preparation and Courtroom Testimony
A grade point average of at least 2.0 in all coursework counted toward the minor is required. Transfer students must take at least 6 semester hours toward a minor at NKU.
