Dr. Proctor has been at NKU since 1991 and primarily teaches courses in interpersonal communication and interviewing. He was named NKU's Outstanding Professor in 1997 and has won the Alumni Association's Strongest Influence Award, the Presidential Ambassadors' Spark and Flame Awards, and the Norse Leadership Society's Mentor Award. Dr. Proctor co-chaired (with President James Votruba) NKU's original "Vision, Values, and Voices" panel, which established the university's mission statement and core values. He is also well-known for his orientation presentation to incoming students and their parents ("I luuuuuuv NKU!").
Dr. Proctor is the co-author of two widely used interpersonal communication textbooks: Interplay (Oxford University Press) and Looking Out/Looking In (Cengage). In his spare time he loves sports (especially the Reds and Bengals), classic rock (especially Steely Dan), and cooking (especially during the summer).
